What is a multiplier?

Anything below 1× returns less than your stake, so it's a loss even though you "won" something back. On many Plinko tables, especially medium and high risk, the slots where the ball lands most often pay below 1×.

Multipliers alone don't tell you how good a table is. You need them together with how often each one comes up:

RTP = Σ probability × multiplier

Example. A 16-row slot paying 1,000× sounds huge, but it comes up once in 65,536 drops. It contributes 1,000 / 65,536 ≈ 1.5% to the table's RTP. The center slot at, say, 0.5× comes up 19.64% of the time and contributes about 9.8%.
