What is seed rotation?

What happens when you rotate:

  1. The current server seed is revealed in plain text.
  2. A new server seed is generated; you see only its hash.
  3. You can set a new client seed.
  4. The nonce restarts.

You can't verify bets while their server seed is still active - revealing it would let you predict future results. Rotation is the moment verification becomes possible.

When to rotate:

  • Whenever you want to check past bets.
  • After setting up an account, to replace default seeds with your own.

When not to bother: to "break" a losing streak. Rotation changes the sequence, not the odds.

In ProvablyHero tools

After rotating, paste the revealed seed into a verifier. The demo has a Rotate button so you can see the process risk-free.

  • What is a server seed? The server seed is the casino's secret random value behind every result. How it's committed with a hash, revealed on rotation and used to verify bets.
  • What is a client seed? The client seed is your input into every provably fair result. What it does, why it protects you, and why changing it never changes your odds.
  • What is a nonce in provably fair? The nonce is a counter that goes up by one with every bet, so the same seeds give a new result each time. How it works and why it matters for verifying.
  • What is a hash (SHA-256)?A hash is a one-way fingerprint of data. How SHA-256 lets a casino commit to a secret seed before you bet, with a real example you can check.
